Signs of Stress and Causes of Stress
Certain signs of stress can easily be evident to oneself and to others, while other signs of stress remain hidden and may not be detected until the damage has been done. In order to recognize the signs of stress, it is important to examine what stress is. The key word is “threatened,” as stress is the physical response to certain events or actions that make a person feel that way. Oftentimes, stress is contrived and there is no real danger. The body will react the same, whether the danger is contrived or whether it is real. The reaction is known as the stress response. Once a person becomes more aware of the signs of stress, it is easier to understand it and possibly prevent a health issue before it occurs.
Signs of stress will be observed in the following situations:
- Death - The death of a family member or a loved one can cause the onset of signs of stress. One very powerful means of alleviating the stress from this condition is to talk about it. Talking about the feelings that are related with the loss will certainly make it easier. If these feelings are not dealt with, they can accumulate over time and lead to depression or health issues.
- Health issues - Health issues may be one of the leading causes of stress. An illness or a disease could cause the individual to incur a great deal of fear over the issue. The illness itself may promote other signs of stress that are not necessarily directly related to the illness, such as doctor’s bills and medications (leading to financial stress). There are certain illnesses that will promote signs of stress, no matter what a person does to alleviate it, but that does not mean it cannot be managed. Become informed of the illness and anything that can put aside any unnecessary worries. Knowledge is a powerful tool in alleviating signs of stress.
- Money – Money is a large factor in promoting signs of stress. Signs of stress can emerge from debt, bills, money owed to others, and lack of money earned. Once again, a large portion of the stress can be alleviated through knowledge. In this case, seek the knowledge of ways to reduce debt or means of earning more money. Though a second job could alleviate signs of stress related to finances, it could create new signs of stress from fatigue.
Signs of stress are not always apparent and may take a thorough examination of all aspects of life to discover. Once the causes are identified, it becomes easier to identify the signs of stress. Issues will arise in every person’s life, but the way a person deals with it may be the difference between a healthy life and a life filled with more stress than necessary.
