Stress Reducing Foods
In most cases, people will react to stress either by eating more than the usually eat or by skipping meals and eating less than they usually eat.
By knowing the right foods to eat when you are feeling stressed, you can relax your muscles and reduce tension. This knowledge is very valuable, since if instead of eating stress reducing foods, you will eat foods that have high sugar and caffeine levels, you can actually increase your stress levels.
Stress Reducing Foods:
- Foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids. Omega 3 is known to help concentration, relieve depression, and fight stress. Foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids include: walnuts, salmon, sardines, soybeans and shrimp.
- Foods rich in magnesium. One of the qualities of magnesium is its ability to relax the muscles. it is also able to reduce high blood pressure and relieve anxiety. Foods that are rich in magnesium include: Crude rice bran, spinach, dark green vegetables, squash and pumpkin seeds, artichokes and halibut.
- Foods rich in L Tryptophan, like turkey, cottage cheese, eggs and shall pitch. This amino acid helps increase serotonin levels which contribute to a good feeling and as a side effect also help reduce stress.
- Foods that have a high content of vitamin C. vitamin C is also known to help reduce stress, in addition to its more common quality of giving a boost to the immune system and preventing you from catching what ever is currently “going around”. Foods rich in vitamin C include: Guavas, oranges, kiwi, broccoli, cauliflower, papaya and strawberry.
