The Value of Stress Therapy
Stress therapy is offered in a variety of different forms, each one beneficial in reducing some form of stress. Consider these alternatives: Relaxed muscles, peace of mind, and more confidence are some of the benefits, as opposed to living without stress therapy. The value of stress therapy is only limited by the time that is spent by the individual. Stress therapy can change a person’s life, even if only twenty to thirty minutes per day are devoted to giving back to one’s self. Below, various forms of stress therapy are listed and the benefits they offer.
Massage as a form of stress therapy – It was reported that in 2006, 39 million Americans had received at least one massage (source: *AMTA). That means that 1 in 6 Americans experienced the benefits of a massage. Stress causes the muscles to tense in an individual. Over time, this can cause serious pain or knots in the area where the stress is retained. Receiving a massage, even if it is from a loved one, can reduce the stress and allow the muscles to relax.
Music as a form of stress therapy – It is not understood what exactly it is about music that reduces stress, but many experts suggest that it may be the rhythm or the beat. The important aspect of music therapy is to choose something that is actually soothing, rather than something that is preferred. Music with loud drums and percussion or the flute seems to have a more soothing effect than other music. Also, live music has an extremely positive effect as a means of stress therapy.
Hydrotherapy as a form of stress therapy – Hydrotherapy is the use of water in the treatment of stress or disease. Hot water can be applied in the form of steam, a bath, or even a towel wrap. Hydrotherapy works on the basis of an exploitation of the body’s reaction to the heat. The nerves in the epidermis send the sensations deeper into the body. This affects the immune system, stress hormones, circulation, and other aspects of the body. With so many positive results, it is easy to see how hydrotherapy is a valuable means of stress therapy.
Listed are only three of the many forms of stress therapy, but there are many more forms of stress therapy that are available. Each and every form of stress therapy will have positive results in one way or another. What is most important is to find the form of stress therapy that most benefits you.
