This simple stress therapy exercise is designed to sooth sore muscles in the area of the neck and shoulders. There are many forms of massage stress therapy and most of them have been proven to be effective in reducing the amount of tension and stress a persom feels. It is important to practice a stress therapy method regularly, since the effects of stress therapy massage usually last only 48 hours.
Stress Therapy Massage
Step 1
Hold your right shoulder with your right hand fingers, as shown in the picture, and look at your elbow.
First Position of Stress Therapy Exercise
Step 2
Rotate your arm a couple of times while still looking at your elbow, in a full circle.
Second Position of Stress Therapy Exercise
Step 3
Rotate your arm a couple of times in the opposite direction, still looking at your elbow.
Step 4
This is the most important part of this stress therapy massage exercise. Reach back with your arm, as shown in the picture. Make sure you feel the stretch, and rotate your arm in both directions, very slowly, a couple of times. Inhale deeply throughout this part. You should feel at this point that your muscles are receiving a massage.
Third Position of Stress Therapy Exercise
Step 5
This part of the stress therapy massage is optional, but much recommended to promote relaxation. Repeat Steps 1-4 while lying on your side.
Repeat this exercise for your left hand and as many times as you want, this is a five minute, self massage that can ease muscle tension and reduce stress.
